The beginning of July was pretty full for me and it was good ! After a break of one week coming back from Israel, I was quickly back on track. First of all I took part to a sail test session with DUOTONE for the Foil sail 2022 in Lake Garda then I continue with the first stop of the French Championship in Dunkerque ( postponed ) !

The Garda Lake was again offering some good conditions with his daily thermic wind. It was every day 5/6 hours spent on the water, testing , trying , changing, cutting sails. We move forward, it’s not easy but after the first stop of the World Tour we learned a lot. So it was lot of hours on the water , note taken and exchanges with the designer and the R&D chief . And it was like always really nice to enjoy Italy and his nice gastronomic. /// Hello Tout le Monde,

Ce début de mois de Juillet a été bien actif ! Après une semaine de break en rentrant de l’étape Israélien, j’ai rapidement enchainé. D’abord une session test DUOTONE pour les futures voiles de Foil 2022 au Lac de Garde et continuer avec la première étape du Championnat de France ( reporté ) à Dunkerque !

Le lac de Garde a été fidèle à sa réputation avec son thermique quotidien pas moins de 5/6 heures sur l’eau par jour et de nombreuses voiles essayées, recoupées , retaillés. On avance, après la première coupe du monde de l’année nous avons appris beaucoup de chose. Et cela continue ! Pas mal d’heures passées sur l’eau, de notes prises et d’échanges avec le designer et le responsable du R&D. Le tout dans un cadre plutôt sympa en profitant de la gastronomie italienne ! ]]

[[ Then , next part happens further north in Dunkerque ! I decided to come back at French championship this year for different reasons, do more events, continue to progress and tune my equipment in racing condition and meet the new generation slowly growing in France. For this competition, format was different as in the World Tour. Foil and Slalom are 2 separates disciplines.
Friday was a great day on sailing, with light but sunny conditions. We were able to race a full elimination in Foil then we quickly switch to slalom as it was an only small chance of wind for the rest of the event. Unfortunately conditions were pretty gusty and difficult so we advanced trough the elimination but we didn’t manage to race the finale.
Foiling worked pretty well for me with a victory on the big finale. I had a good fight with another competitor, really good in foil. It was a good way to valid my choice and confirm that I can also be really fast in light wind conditions.
The next days were pretty bad with thunderstorms, lot of rains and no decent conditions to race ! /// La suite se passe plus au Nord, à Dunkerque ! j’ai décidé de revenir sur le Championnat de France cette année pour plusieurs raisons, faire de nouvelles compétitions, continuer à affiner mes réglages en compétitions et aussi rencontrer la nouvelle génération faisant doucement son apparition. Sur ce Championnat, ce n’est pas encore comme à l’international où le foil et le slalom peuvent courir ensemble. Le foil et le slalom sont 2 disciplines à part entière.

Le vendredi fut une belle journée de course avec un vent léger mais de belles conditions. Nous avons pu valider une course en Foil avant de basculer rapidement en slalom pour essayer de valider aussi une course. Malheureusement les conditions furent très difficiles, nous avons réussi à avancer dans le tableau d’élimination mais malheureusement se fut impossible de courir la finale. Pour revenir sur le foil, j’ai remporté cette manche après une bonne bataille avec un notre coureur spécialiste du Foil et très bon. C’était parfait de valider mes réglages dans du vent très léger et de voir que je pouvais la aussi être très rapide !
Les jours suivants furent malheureusement bien triste avec de la pluie, des orages et pas vraiment de vent suffisant pour espérer continuer !

[[ I am happy to be back on French tour event and to win this competition. It’s always interesting to work on racing situation and to go for back to back event. It was also great to have lot of sailing in a row with this week of testing before.

Next step start already with a new physic plan for the summer to work on new specific aspect and be ready end of the summer. Even with the current situation, I am working on different projects and second part of the year will be great !!

Pierre /// Je suis content d’avoir fait mon retour sur ce championnat et de remporter cette compétition. C’est toujours intéressant de se remettre en situation et d’enchainer les compétitions mais aussi un gros volume de navigation avec la semaine de test avant cela !

Pour la suite je vais repartir sur un cycle de travail notamment physique pour avance et bosser certains points pour être au mieux en fin d’été. Malgré certaines incertitudes dues à la situation je prépare des projets et la deuxième partie d’année va être rempli croyez moi !
