Here we are and the World Tour is back on track ! I am still in Israel - Tiberiade where just take place the first World Cup event last week.
After a long and forced break due to COVID, we finally hit the starting line again and all the rider from around the world were ready to sail the famous Sea of Galilea. A special protocol was set up to let us participate to this event while respecting a proper bubble between our hotel and the event site.

The big novelty was this year the new format mixing Foil and Slalom on the same course, choice has been made by the athlete ! There were lot of question going around and we get lot of answer after a week of competition. On this historical lake a strong thermal wind was coming everyday beginning of the afternoon, blowing till 30 knots. A detail will define the week , the irregularity of this wind making the foil super efficient around the full race. We race more than 3/4 in the air despite of the strong gusts.

Ca y est la Coupe du Monde a repris et je suis encore en Israel à Tibériade où s’est déroulé une étape tout au long de cette semaine.
Après la longue pause forcée due au COVID, nous avons enfin retrouvé la ligne de départ et les différents coureurs venus des 4 coins de la planète sur la Mer de Galilée. Un protocole exceptionnel était en place pour nous permettre de venir participer à cette compétition et nous avons respecté une bulle (Hotel / Spot de compétition).

La grande nouveauté était la nouvelle discipline mixant le Foil et le Slalom en aileron classique (choix libre pour le coureur) ! Il y avait beaucoup d’attente et de questions à ce sujet là et nous avons été servi. Sur ce lac chargé d’histoire un thermique se lève tous les après midi en 13 et 14 heures pouvant souffler jusqu’à plus de 30 noeuds. Mais un détail allait marquer la semaine, l’irrégularité du vent ! Cela a son importance puisque nous avons couru 80% de la semaine en foil et cela malgré les fortes rafales.

[[We had some really nice conditions to battle around the mark this week. Beginning of the week I had some pressure and it took me time to get back the automatism. I tried to be sailing efficiently and cleanly. The 6th race we had some strong wind and it was a full fin race , I really wanted to get it and show that fin is still alive and that I can be fast on both machine. Last day I managed to wind the ultimate race , this time on my foil !

I secure a 2nd place on this 1st international event. I am really happy with this result, I learnt a lot during this competition and it showed that all the hard work during the forced break was important.
/// Nous avons eu de super conditions pour nous battre autour des bouées pendant une semaine. En début de semaine j’avais beaucoup de pression et j’ai mis un peu de temps à prendre mes marques sur le plan d’eau mais j’ai toujours été très consistant en naviguant proprement et efficacement. Lors de l’avant dernière course nous avons couru la manche en aileron, je voulais absolument la remporter pour montrer que le support était encore là et que j’étais très rapide sur les deux engins. Le dernier jour je remportais à nouveau l’ultime manche, cette fois ci sur mon foil !

J’assurais alors une solide 2ème place pour cette reprise internationale. Je suis très content du résultat j’ai beaucoup appris et ce résultat conforte l’ensemble du travail que j’ai mis en place durant ces longs mois d’attente tout en balayant pas mal des incertitudes que l’attente a pu créer. ]]
