[[Big smile on my face as I am writing this news. In fact I am just back from Costa Brava in Spain, where the 2nd stop of the World Tour happened with an amazing VICTORY… And at the same time I take the lead of the World Cup ranking!///C’est avec un grand sourire que j'écris cette news, en effet je rentre tout juste d’Espagne où se déroulait la 2ème étape de Coupe du Monde avec une magnifique VICTOIRE… Et d’une pierre deux coups, je prends par la même occasion la tête du ranking annuel!]]

[[This last week was pretty long and not so easy to manage for the riders. At the spot a few days before the event, it was good to be back on the water: the week before, I had to stop my training after an injury to my head, with some stitches and pain in my neck. But it was ok and I quickly found back my bearings in the light wind conditions! This time, no trap on the water as we got in Korea. The competition took place near one of the biggest camping, a 5-stars of Costa Brava, where we were accommodated. It was super easy for us to go on the water, prepare our equipment with all our material so close!///Cette dernière semaine a vraiment été longue et pas toujours évidente à gérer. Sur place un peu avant l’événement, j’ai pu bien reprendre la navigation après avoir été contraint au repos suite à une petite blessure à la tête et quelques points durant un entraînement à la maison. J’ai rapidement repris mes marques sur le plan d’eau et notamment dans le vent léger. Cette fois-ci, pas de plan d’eau piégeur comme quelques semaines auparavant en Corée. La compétition est organisée dans un des plus gros campings de la Costa Brava ce qui nous permettait d’être logés presque sur la plage avec notre matériel juste à côté et tout à proximité.]] 

[[We started the competition straight on the first day with a solid thermic wind during the afternoon and we were able to finish one good race. After some good heats, I managed to be on the Final, happy with my speed and motivated to fight for a top place. A good start, a good first leg then it was a victory for this first race of the week! Then the wind died quickly and it was the beginning of a super long week of waiting! We were in stand-by almost every day from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM, the conditions were close but not enough to continue./// Nous avons pu entamer la compétition dès le premier jour avec un solide thermique se levant dans l’après-midi, nous avons pu valider une belle manche. Après de bons premiers heats, j’arrivais jusqu’en finale gagnante conscient que j’avais clairement ma carte à jouer au vue de ma vitesse… Un bon départ, un bon premier bord et je remportais cette première manche de la semaine!!! Le vent tomba ensuite rapidement et ne nous permit pas de continuer. C’était le début d’une longue semaine d’attente.]]   

[[Long waiting game, going to the beach, to the water but the wind was not enough regular to be able to continue… It was like this until 3.30 PM on Sunday (1:30 before the end of the event), then everything changed!!! Back in the game, I was stressed I could lose everything on one side, but I was pretty confident about my speed and I knew I could make it on the other side! I had the scenario of last year in my head, thinking of this last day that had saved me, so thought I could do the same again, even though I was the chased one this time...///Nous avons été en stand-by tous les jours jusqu’au dimanche, avec des briefings chaque matin à 6h00 au cas où, de nombreuses fausses alertes, des allers-retours sur la plage et sur l’eau mais pas un vent assez constant pour être en mesure d’avancer dans le tableau. Et tout cela jusqu’au dimanche 15h30 (1h30 avant la fin de la compétition), où finalement le thermique décidait de se montrer suffisamment généreux pour nous renvoyer sur l’eau… J’étais à la fois stressé de « tout perdre », mais d’un autre coté j’étais confiant dans ces conditions. J’avais en tête le scénario de l’an dernier où cette dernière journée m’avait sauvé, alors je me disais que c’était possible de refaire la même chose, même si cette fois j’étais dans la position du chassé…]] 

[[I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders, and in these light wind conditions, I passed some heats hardly but managed to be back on the final. After a bad start, I passed last (8th) at the first mark. I could not ask myself many questions, I just thought not to let go anything and fight enough to get back 1-2 places. At this time, the game changed, I had nothing to lose so I fought until the finish line on super light wind conditions to finally get a 4th place and secure the event victory at the World Cup!///J’avais pas mal de pression et dans des conditions ultra légères j’arrivais à valider une nouvelle fois ma qualification en finale gagnante. A ce moment-là, il fallait ne pas prendre trop de risques mais suffisamment pour jouer devant. Après un départ très moyen je passais dernier (8ème) à la première bouée. Là, je n’avais plus beaucoup de questions à me poser, je me suis dit, aller ne lâche rien et reste intelligent pour remonter 1-2 places ça sera déjà bien! Le vent était vraiment léger mais j’ai tout donné, j’ai du matos qui plane terriblement bien, j’étais en forme et je ne voulais pas lâcher cette victoire bêtement, alors j’y ai cru jusqu’à remonter à la 4ème place! Après de rapides calculs, c’était bon je tenais une nouvelle Victoire de Coupe du Monde…]]   

[[I am really so happy to keep my 1st place after this super hard race! Waiting like this is clearly not easy especially with this kind of end. The whole week, I was sharing the podium with 2 of my yearly training partners, it was great, but they did not manage to keep their position. It’s only a matter of time… It’s incredible how the competition can transform you and all the different feelings I had on a same afternoon from being relaxed to stressed then finishing with happiness…///J’étais vraiment super content d’avoir su tenir mon rang et garder ma première place! Toute la semaine je partageais le podium avec 2 de mes partenaires d’entrainement à l’année, c’était géant, mais malheureusement ils n’ont pas pu garder leur place mais ce n’est que partie remise… C’est incroyable la manière dont tout s’est passé ce dimanche avec un tas d’émotions passant de la détente, au gros stress pour finalement se terminer dans la joie! C’est en vivant tout ça qu’au final je me rends compte que tous les sacrifices et les heures de travail ne sont pas là pour rien!]]
